Nigerian Navy Overview

The Nigerian Navy (NN) is a branch of the Nigerian Armed Forces. The Nigerian Navy originated in 1914 from the then Nigerian Marine Department of the Royal Navy (established in 1887) which was a quasi-military organization after the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern Nigeria.

The Naval Headquarters (NHQ) is the administrative and policy- making organ of the Nigerian Navy. While the Chief of the Naval Staff is the highest ranking military officer of the Nigerian Navy a position often occupied by the most senior commissioned officer appointed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The Nigerian Navy Recruitment process for qualified Nigerian graduates through the Nigerian Navy Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) has commenced. Nigerian Navy Entry Qualification

Applicants are to possess:

  1. Fellowship of West African Colleges or National Medical Colleges in the respective specialization such as FWACS, FWACO, FMCOG or equivalents obtained from foreign institutions
  2. ​​
  3. Certificate or Registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria
  4. ​​
  5. Certificate of Registration of Additional Certificates
  6. ​​
  7. All other relevant certificates

General Instructions

  1. Applicants who obtained credentials from foreign institutions should ensure that the certificates are authenticated by the Federal Ministry of Education
  2. ​​
  3. Applicants must possess NYSC Discharge Certificate or letter of exemption from NYSC
  4. ​​
  5. Applicants must possess the National ID Card or National ID Card Acknowledgment slip.​​
  6. ​​
  7. Male applicants must not be less than 1.65 metres tall while female applicants must not be less than 1.62 metres tall.

  9. Applicants should be between 30 and 40 years of age by 31 March 2018.

  11. Applicants will be shortlisted for a screening interview. The date and time of the interview will be communicated via this website.

Nigerian Navy Application

Generally, Nigerain Navy applicant must be a Nigerian by birth before he/she can apply, you should possess a minimum of Second Class Upper Division for first degree holders and Upper Credit for HND holders.

Male applicants must not be less than 1.68 metres tall while female applicants must not be less than 1.65 metres in height. Applicants should be between 22 and 28 years by the time of application, except for Imams and Chaplains who should not exceed 30 years at this period of time.
